UAE residents looking to travel more for less in 2026 have good news — several top international destinations have become more affordable, thanks to a noticeable drop in airfares. According to the latest Skyscanner Travel Trends Report 2026, flight prices from the UAE to select cities have fallen by between 3% and 21%, opening up more opportunities for budget-conscious travellers.

The study revealed that over two-thirds of UAE travellers now choose their next holiday primarily based on flight costs, while 60% also consider accommodation prices. Another 36% factor in currency exchange rates, showing that affordability is driving most travel decisions in the region.

Among the destinations offering the best value, Davao in the Philippines, Salalah in Oman, and Phuket in Thailand top the list. These cities have seen airfare reductions of 21%, 20%, and 19% respectively, making them particularly attractive for travellers seeking scenic escapes without breaking the bank.

Other destinations with notable fare drops include Manila, Zanzibar, Manama, Kuala Lumpur, Kochi, Dammam, and Tbilisi — each becoming between 3% and 17% cheaper to fly to compared to last year.

“Lower airfares are helping travellers explore more places from the UAE than ever before,” said Bryan Batista, CEO of Skyscanner. “People are planning trips with more purpose, choosing destinations that match their interests, lifestyles, and budgets.”

The 2026 report also highlights trending cities that are gaining popularity among UAE residents for their unique experiences, cultural depth, and accessibility:

• Varna, Bulgaria: A Black Sea destination offering sandy beaches, Roman ruins, and great value for money, now more accessible through low-cost European routes.

• Bilbao, Spain: Known for its creative energy, Basque cuisine, and the famous Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao is drawing more UAE visitors in 2026.

• Paro, Bhutan: Home to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Paro offers spiritual serenity and a sustainable travel experience.

• Basel, Switzerland: A riverside cultural hub connecting Switzerland, France, and Germany — now easier to reach with new direct flights from Dubai.

• Beijing, China: With reopened borders and renewed flight links, the Chinese capital is re-emerging as a top cultural destination.
