Heavy rains lashed parts of the UAE on Friday (January 9), with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) sharing footage of the downpour across several regions.

Videos shared by the weather department showed rain-soaked roads and overcast skies as showers intensified in some areas.

A clip from Fujairah captured a more heartwarming moment amid the heavy rains, showing a father and a child braving strong winds and heavy rains as they walked along a water-logged road, sharing a small umbrella for cover while rainwater continued to accumulate.

Several cars were also seen parked along the roadside as the rains continued to lash the area.

In one clip from Ras Al Khaimah, low grey clouds hung over the mountains while rainwater collected on the roads, forming puddles as vehicles cautiously drove through partially flooded stretches.

The NCM urged residents to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary and to remain vigilant and cautious. Motorists are also advised to turn on low-beam headlights when visibility is reduced.

The NCM had earlier noted that residents can expect fair to partly cloudy skies on Friday. The weather department noted that low clouds will appear over some northern and eastern areas, with a probability of light rainfall.

Despite these rainy conditions, the country's climate will be humid by Friday night and Saturday morning over some coastal areas with a probability of mist formation.
