Restaurant Review: Beluga is the ultimate Dubai destination for caviar lovers

Tucked inside the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, you’ll come across a tiny haven for caviar lovers: Beluga. On first glance, it’s rather unassuming — easily mistaken for a discreet lobby bar — but step inside and it quickly becomes clear that this is a destination in its own right. Intimate, softly lit, and quietly confident, Beluga sets the tone for a refined-yet-relaxed culinary experience.
We sat down and opted for the Caviar Tasting Menu, settling in for what felt less like a meal and more like a carefully choreographed journey. The experience opened delicately, with a Fine de Claire oyster and Sicilian red prawn crowned with caviar — clean, briny, and elegant, immediately setting expectations high. From there, things moved into more indulgent territory with the caviar pizzetta: crisp yet airy dough topped with Wagyu tartare and Oscietra caviar. Decadent, yes, but never overwhelming.
The handmade fettuccine was a standout moment. Perfectly al dente, rich yet restrained, it acted as a quiet canvas for the caviar rather than competing with it. This sense of balance carried through to the Hokkaido scallops, paired with chestnut purée and Royal Baerii caviar — sweet, silky, and deeply comforting without losing precision. The main course, Australian A5 Wagyu with Beluga XX caviar sauce, was unapologetically indulgent, yet impressively controlled, avoiding the heaviness that often comes with such premium ingredients.
Dessert arrived in the form of the Gentleman’s Cheesecake — camel milk vanilla, subtly sweet, finished with Imperial Gold caviar. A bold choice, but one that worked surprisingly well, closing the menu on a playful-yet-polished note.
What stood out most at Beluga was the restraint. Despite the caviar, the Wagyu, and the sense of occasion, nothing felt showy. The menu is confident, ingredient-led, and thoughtfully paced, allowing each dish to shine without excess. Service mirrored this approach — attentive, knowledgeable, and calm, enhancing the experience without interrupting it.
Beluga is not about spectacle; it’s about clarity, detail, and quality. A place for lingering conversations and a quietly luxurious meal that lets the ingredients do the talking.
