Application Process

Online via RTA:

1. Sign in using Emirates ID, passport, or UAE Pass

2. Enter your details and upload required documents

3. Provide details of your existing licence and select the licence category

4. Complete the eye test at an RTA-authorised centre

5. Visit a Customer Happiness Centre for verification if required

6. Pay fees online and choose delivery: digital, standard, same-day, or within 2 hours

Through Customer Happiness Centres:

1. Submit all required documents

2. Licence data is verified, and a traffic file is opened (if new applicant)

3. Pay the applicable fees

4. Receive your driving licence in printed or electronic form

Validity of Exchanged Licences

• 1 year for applicants under 21

• 2 years for applicants 21 and above

Terms and Conditions

• The foreign licence must be valid

• Eye tests must be from RTA-authorised centres

• Licences without security features require verification from the issuing country’s embassy or consulate

• Licences from certain regions cannot be exchanged (e.g., Puerto Rico, Guam, Monaco, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Jersey)

• Singapore licences require completion of a Knowledge Test
