A Malaysian motorcyclist, Dicky, found himself in a tough spot when his bike broke down by the roadside. Fortunately, a kind mechanic stepped in and repaired his motorcycle at no charge after realizing that Dicky did not have enough money to pay for the repairs.

This touching story gained significant attention after a video of the encounter went viral, amassing over 5.3 million views, 690,000 likes, and 20,000 comments since it was posted on Friday, April 17. Supportive netizens flooded Dicky's TikTok live stream with virtual gifts and encouraging messages.

The incident began late at night when Dicky, in urgent need of help, called Selangor-based mechanic and TikTok user Minyakhitamjalanan to fix his motorcycle chain and front sprocket. The mechanic quoted a repair fee of RM145 (approximately S$46), to which Dicky requested a lower price of RM80. Understanding the situation, the mechanic ultimately confirmed the RM145 fee.

Upon completing the repairs, the mechanic noticed that Dicky had only RM176 left in his Touch 'n Go mobile wallet. Concerned, he asked Dicky if he had enough money for food, to which Dicky hesitantly replied that he did. Sensing Dicky's financial struggle, the mechanic decided to cover the repair costs despite Dicky's insistence on paying at least RM50. “He kept insisting that I take the money for my work. But seeing his situation, I just couldn't do it,” Minyakhitamjalanan shared in his post, noting that Dicky had borrowed money from a friend for the repairs.

Dicky's Generosity: A Promise to Give Back

Despite the overwhelming support, Dicky has declined to accept any donations and has cautioned netizens against contributing to any accounts using his name. During his live stream, when TikTok users sent him virtual gifts that could be cashed out, he pledged to donate the entire amount to the mechanic to help others.

Additionally, internet users discovered that Dicky works at a seafood restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, leading many to visit the eatery in support of him. One comment under his TikTok post read, “I’ll come to your workplace with my husband and make sure you receive tips from us!” Another user wrote, “Keep going! Everything really will get better slowly.”

On Saturday, the restaurant posted on Facebook, acknowledging the influx of customers supporting Dicky, stating, “He is a very hardworking person. Every support you give, we will pass on to Dicky.”
