Curious Culinary Adventure: Crocodile Feet at Marina Bay Sands Buffet
Food Info
"Would you have tried it?" This was the question posed by a woman to her Instagram followers after discovering a unique dish at a buffet in a Marina Bay Sands restaurant: Crocodile feet.
A Reel shared by user MsNikkolette on April 12 featured the dish, described as "crocodile toast" served with Vietnamese "nuoc cham sauce." In her caption, she expressed her adventurous palate but admitted, "This was pushing the limits." She never anticipated encountering crocodile feet at an Australia Day buffet at Rise Marina Bay Sands.
While Nikkolette didn't elaborate on how she found the dish in the video, many viewers were eager for her opinion. She replied to one comment, stating, "I did have a small bite; it's way too fishy because of how it was prepped." However, not everyone was as intrigued; some expressed horror instead. One comment read, "Tell me it's AI," while another exclaimed, "I see the nails and I cannot." A helpful netizen suggested, "There is a plate on the right with just the sliced meat portion without the feet? Maybe just try that section, okay?"
The 33-year-old Nikkolette later told Lianhe Zaobao that she attended the Australia Day-themed buffet with her family on January 25, and the unusual dish sparked their interest. She was somewhat familiar with crocodile meat, having fed her pet dog "novel protein," including reptile meat, due to its skin issues.
However, she criticized the restaurant's preparation, noting it was fried with little seasoning and served cold. "The crocodile foot only had a little bit of flesh; the rest was as tough as leather," she remarked, suggesting that stewing the meat might yield better results.
For those curious about delicacies from Australia, Rise restaurant's social media indicates that their Australia Day buffet is an annual event, with crocodile feet also featured on the menu last year. The buffet was priced at $124++ for adults and $64++ for children.
