Affectionately nicknamed "40 Lampu" (Malay for "40 lamp posts") by local petrolheads, this graveyard-flanked road was notorious in the 1990s as Singapore's underground drag racing haven. While those high-octane days faded years ago, Saturday's emotional gathering marked the end of an era for Singapore's automotive community.

"This was our last chance to say goodbye to a legendary spot where generations of car enthusiasts connected," said Dyrendall Low, 22, his voice tinged with nostalgia. The air-conditioning technician described an electric atmosphere filled with roaring engines and gleaming headlights - everything from rumbling street racers to purring supercars basking in their final moments under the iconic lamps.

The remote location had long made it perfect for late-night gatherings without disturbing residents. "That mix of exhaust fumes and excitement - you could feel how much this place meant to everyone," Low added. "It wasn't just about cars tonight. We were celebrating memories that'll outlast any machine."

The somber yet celebratory mood drew more than just motorheads - cyclists and bikers joined what became an impromptu farewell festival. Advertising executive Daryl Lee, 36, posed for keepsake photos with his wife beside their car on the weathered asphalt.
