A 41-year-old cyclist was rushed to the hospital following a collision with a police vehicle on Keppel Road last Friday (June 6), in an incident that took an unexpected turn when the officer involved initially left the scene unaware of the accident.

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they were alerted to the accident at approximately 3:10 pm. The collision occurred along Keppel Road in the direction of Marina Coastal Expressway, involving a patrol car and the male cyclist.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, a 30-year-old male officer from the elite Special Operations Command (SOC), had continued his journey after impact without realizing he had been involved in an accident. Authorities stated, "The officer only became aware of the incident after being contacted by traffic police investigators."

The police emphasized that upon notification, "the officer immediately returned to assist with investigations." Meanwhile, medical responders transported the cyclist to a nearby hospital while conscious; his current condition remains undisclosed.

The case has taken a serious turn as investigators examine potential charges against the officer for driving without due consideration for other road users resulting in injury. As part of standard procedure during active investigations, authorities have temporarily suspended his driving privileges.
